Join the Pikes Peak Buckeyes
Now is the time to show your a part of the local Buckeye alumni club by becoming a dues-paying member. Your $20 (individual) or $30 (family) membership will allow the club to continue sponsoring activities throughout the year, as well as establish a Pikes Peak Buckeyes Scholarship.  In addition, your dues will bring you benefits that more than offset the cost.

Rebecca Rapport Receives First Pikes Peak Buckeyes Scholarship

Rebecca Rapport from Denver has been awarded the first Pikes Peak Buckeyes scholarship. She made the wise decision to attend OSU this fall and will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Pikes Peak Buckeyes. She was accepted into the honors program and plans to study journalism. We'll probably see her name showing up in by-lines in the Lantern before long. Congratulations Rebecca!

As you can see from Rebecca's answers to the scholarship committee's questions, she comes from a real scarlet and grey family with deep roots in Ohio.

<>The Pikes Peak Buckeyes Scholarship Committee received applications from three prospective OSU scholars from Colorado hoping to attend OSU in the fall. All three were accepted by OSU and had to make their decision on whether or not to attend the home of the Buckeyes. The Scholarship Committee reviewed and ranked the three applications. Our recommendations were forwarded to the OSU Office of Financial Aid.   (July 2, 2008).

Ohio State Buckeye Gear
We've added an Ohio State Buckeye gear store to our site. The store operates through the Amazon.com network. Any purchase you make through the store returns a portion of the purchase price to the Pikes Peak Buckeyes organization.

Anyone for GOLF?
The Pikes Peak Buckeyes are considering playing some golf. We'd like to know who is interested. If you'd like to play, let us know. Send an email to Tim Watson (watson1917@yahoo.com).

We've added a new capability to the site. Check out the stadiums and locations of each Buckeye Football away game with our new Buckeye Maps feature.

It's Summer Picnic Time - August 2, 2008

Dust off the Frisbie, and load up the lawn chairs. It's time for the 3rd annual Pikes Peak Buckeyes summer picnic. We have the big pavillion, south of the Mesa Road parking lot, at Monument Valley Park reserved from Noon to 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2008.  We have exclusive access to the pavillion and the fireplaces/grills.

<>Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon with your fellow Buckeyes! Remember no alcohol is allowed in Colorado Springs city parks!!

We will also hold our annual organizational meeting at the picnic to elect officers for the coming year and do the other official business that the Alumni Association requires. (May 30, 2008)

Pikes Peak Buckeyes Host Tom Hof and Randy Gradishar for Food and Fun

On Friday, April 25, 2008 the Pikes Peak Buckeyes hosted Tom Hof, OSU's Senior Associate Athletic Director. The event kicked off at 5:30 pm with refreshments and Tom's talk and a Q&A session ran from about 6:00-7:00 pm.

Tom presented an intimate look at the largest athletic program in the country. (A PDF copy of Tom's presentation is available here.) He has been a member of the Ohio State Department of Athletics since 1994. His responsibilities include all athletics department development, branding, creative services, fundraising activities, marketing and promotions, and premium seating programs. Prior to working with athletics, he was the director of development for the College of Law.

Joining the group to listen to Tom's presentation were Randy Gradishar (OSU '74), a representative from the University of Colorado athletic department and a reporter from the Gazette.
