Summer Picnic

The 4th Annual Pikes Peak Buckeyes Summer Picnic is right around the corner! Just like last year, we will be having our picnic at the pavilions at Monument Valley Park, Southeast of I-25 and Uintah off of Glen Avenue, on Sunday, June 28^th from 1:00-4:00. (Parking is in the lot near the experimental gardens with a short walk into the pavilions.) Dogs, kiddos, Ohio State friends & fans, and any others you would like to bring are welcome. This is your picnic!

Buffalo Wild Wings will be providing some sample wings & appetizers as they have in year's past (many thanks to Buckeye friend & manager at BWW, Eric Gray!), along with Buckeye cake from your Leadership Group. Please bring along your own picnic lunch, beverages, utensils, etc. No alcohol is allowed at the park. There are grills available, but you will be responsible for charcoal, lighters, etc.

As usual, we will raffle off some Ohio State goodies.

Scholarships Awarded

This year the Pikes Peak Buckeyes were able to award two scholarship to Colorado students headed to the Ohio State University. Our ability to make these scholarships is made possible by you, the members of our group. Each time you pay your membership dues, a portion goes to the scholarship fund. Each time you buy a baloon at our football gatherings, the money goes to the scholarship fund. Each time the Bucks score a touchdown and you contribute a Buck for a Buck, the money goes to the scholarship fund. So, THANK YOU to each of you!!

This year we awarded a second year scholarship of $2,000 to our last year's scholar Rebecca Rappaport. Rebecca is moving into her sophomore year and thriving at OSU.

We also awarded a scholarship ($2,600) to Tyler Nofzinger. Tyler was born in the Toledo area but he and his family now make the Colorado Springs area home. We were able to present Tyler with his scholarship in person at graduation from Mesa Ridge High School accompanied by Randy Gradishar.

College Traditions Benefit

The Pikes Peak Buckeyes have registered with College Traditions and will now receive a 15% rebate on every purchase made by our members as long as they insert the Pikes Peak Buckeyes member number when they make their order. Our membership number isA9578 . (Once you register with College Traditions you won't have to enter the member number again.) We will add any funds received to our scholarship fund so buy lots of neat Buckeye gear.

New Buckeye Arrives

We recently welcomed another Buckeye to the Pikes Peak Region. Charlie Knight-Bednarski is the new son of our own Pikes Peak Buckeye Kristina Knight and her husband. Charlie arrived on April 14^th, 8:52 p.m. after an epic 35 hour labor! He tipped the scales at7 pounds14 ounces and was 21.25” long and very healthy! Mother, father, and son are all doing fine.
