Rebecca Rapport Receives First Pikes Peak Buckeyes Scholarship
Rebecca Rapport
Rebecca Rapport

Rebecca Rapport from Denver has been awarded the first Pikes Peak Buckeyes scholarship. She made the wise decision to attend OSU this fall and will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Pikes Peak Buckeyes. She was accepted into the honors program and plans to study journalism. We'll probably see her name showing up in by-lines in the Lantern before long. Congratulations Rebecca!

As you can see from Rebecca's answers to the scholarship committee's questions, she comes from a real scarlet and grey family with deep roots in Ohio.

The Pikes Peak Buckeyes Scholarship Committee received applications from three prospective OSU scholars from Colorado hoping to attend OSU in the fall. All three were accepted by OSU and had to make their decision on whether or not to attend the home of the Buckeyes. The Scholarship Committee reviewed and ranked the three applications. Our recommendations were forwarded to the OSU Office of Financial Aid.   (July 2, 2008).

Tom Hof Gathering
On Friday, April 25, 2008 the Pikes Peak Buckeyes hosted Tom Hof, OSU's Senior Associate Athletic Director. The event kicked off at 5:30 pm with refreshments and Tom's talk and a Q&A session ran from about 6:00-7:00 pm.

Tom presented an intimate look at the largest athletic program in the country. (A PDF copy of Tom's presentation is available here.) He has been a member of the Ohio State Department of Athletics since 1994. His responsibilities include all athletics department development, branding, creative services, fundraising activities, marketing and promotions, and premium seating programs. Prior to working with athletics, he was the director of development for the College of Law.

Joining the group to listen to Tom's presentation were Randy Gradishar (OSU '74), a representative from the University of Colorado athletic department and a reporter from the Gazette. At dinner after the event, Tom let everyone ogle his Buckeye NCAA Championship ring.

2007 Pikes Peak Buckeyes Picnic
July once again signaled the summer picnic for the Pikes Peak Buckeyes. This year the weather cooperated and the crowd enjoyed a great afternoon with fellow buckeyes. The venue this year was Manitou Springs. Thanks to all the organizers and especially Jeff for all his work getting the location reserved. Also a special thanks to Megan for recording the event in pictures.

Springs in Bloom
The Pikes Peak Buckeye, Springs in Bloom garden is planted. Six stalwart Buckeyes braved the traffic to plant a median garden at Flintridge and El Camino on Staurday morning. A special thanks to Celeste and Steve for attending the training session and generally coordinating the entire project.

BCS Championship - OSU-14 - Florida-41
Some folks had to be bribed to crack a smile, but the Pikes Peak buckeyes are a tough bunch and we cheered our team even in their darkest hour. JUST WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR! THE BUCKEYES WILL BE BACK!
